Jana Vonášková-Nováková (violin)
was born in the Czech Republic in 1979 and studied at the Music School Třemošná (M. Novák), at the Prague Conservatoire (1994-2000, doc. J. Pazdera), at the Royal College of Music in London (2000-2005, Dr. F. Andrievsky) and at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (2005-2007, prof. V. Snítil). She won first prizes at the "Talent of the Year 2000" (Prague, Czech Republic, 2000), "International competition for young violinists K. Lipiňski + H. Wieniawski" (Lublin, Poland, 2000) and "Young Concert Artists Trust" (London, United Kingdom, 2002). She has recorded for Czech Radio, Czech TV, BBC Radio 3, Radio Classique France and NHK Television Japan. Jana regularly performs with her brother, pianist Petr Novák. Since 2003 she has been a member of the Smetana Piano Trio, together with Jitka Čechová and Jan Páleníček.
Václav Vonášek (bassoon)
was born in the Czech Republic in 1980, and studied at the Pilsen Conservatoire (1994-2000, L. Šmídl and M. Křiváček) and the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (1999-2005, Prof. F. Herman and Prof. J. Seidl). As the winner of the Czech-Slovak competition „Talent of the Year 2002“ he was awarded a one-year scholarship to study at the Royal College of Music in London with A. de Flammineis and M. Gatt. In the same year, he won 2 nd prize at the Prague Spring Competition. Further competition awards include: IDRS Melbourne (2004) - 1 st prize, Lodź 2005 - 1 st prize, Markneukirchen (2006) - 3 rd prize, ARD Munich (2008) - 3 rd prize. His participation at competitions was crowned by winning the 1 st prize at the Prague Spring Competition in 2009. Václav is an enthusiastic promoter of the bassoon as a solo instrument, especially through unaccompanied and transcribed pieces. He is a member of the Prague Bassoon Band, Arundo Wind Trio and PhilHarmonia Octet. Since 2006 he has been a member of the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra.
Petr Novák (piano)
was born in the Czech Republic in1974, and studied at the Pilsen Conservatoire (1988-1994, J. Duras), at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (1994-1999, Prof. E. Leichner) and at the Hochschule für Music und Theater in Leipzig (1999-2000, Prof. U. Urban). He took part in numerous masterclasses given by N. Akopian, E. Indjic, P. Gulda, and V. Krainev, amongst others. Petr‘s competition successes include 2 nd prize at the Beethoven Hradec competition (1992), 1 st prize at the Bohuslav Martinů Piano Competition (1996), and quarter finallist at the prestigious Clara Haskil International Piano Competition (1997) in Vevey. He regularly records for Czech Radio and makes regular appearances with his sister Jana. They have performed at the Rudolfinum's Suk Hall, at the Prague Spring Music Festival and are giving an increasing number of concerts abroad (London's Wigmore Hall, Manchester's Bridgewater Hall, St. David's Hall Cardiff etc.). Since 2003 he has been a Professor of Piano at the Pilsen Conservatoire of Music.
